I think the engines are reliable, it’s just all the little plastic bits that attach to the engine that are a problem.
My favorite color is the pearl white.

I know it could be reliable in theory , but this article left me terrified of the VG30DE(TT). The fact that he did all the 450 hours of labor himself and it was still $8k on top of the purchase price in parts, sounds brutal.
My friend has a Z32 that misfires, but refuses to misfire if diagnostic equipment is hooked up. It’s like a TDI Volkswagen, but of unreliability.

*flamesuit on* Honda J-series. The problems with J’s are the automatic transmissions, and there are kits to make them work with RWD transmissions.

Ooh, that would work well too. Honestly if it were me I’d just pluck the K24Z3 out of my TSX, hook it up to an S2000 transmission, and put a rather large turbo and some other goodies on it. It just wouldn’t sound as good as a modified J.

This has been my WANT car since I found out it existed. My supportive friends who own or have owned Z32s are the only reason I don’t have one already. They keep talking me out of it, but the want grows stronger and the cars grow cheaper every week :P

Of course this is my awnser, 89-94 1uzfe paired with a 350z 6 speed and 7 psi through 1 or 2 turbos. I think it could be done for less the $5k with some welding ability, and it would last until the end of time.

Id be surprised if there isnt a kit to fit a 1uz in there, Collins adapters probably sells one. Even without any welding it could be done, just without the turbos.(excluding exhaust shop costs)

BOOOY IS IT A PAIN TO WORK ON
i recently changed failed injectors and fired it up only to find out one at least one to have a pinched O-ring and now the manifold has to come off.
Of course in the meantime leaking fuel into the oil and thinning it enough to leak past the already leaky seals and leaving a trail of oil out my driveway
other than that good car! :) If you have the patience and small hands go for it. Mad amounts of money is helpful too. and remember to buy two of everything.
Of course you can always take it to a shop but you don’t get the same reward as a DIY
(P.S. must have a second RELIABLE vehicle) learned that one the hard way

Pearl white with burgundy interior is sooooo haaaaaawt. One of my Aunt’s had a Z32 with that combo, t-tops, manual trans, and no turbo.

I’ve owned two and a Z31. I did some work on it myself. It wasn’t so bad and the car was fairly reliable. Had a great experience, loved them all. I was 19—25 at the time.
